Report on Consolidated Fire/EMS Dispatch and Provider Response Times
Recommendation
Accept this report on consolidated Fire/EMS dispatch and provider response timesfor the period of October 1, 2000 through March 31, 2001.
Background
In January 1999 a new contract for countywide emergency ambulance service and paramedic first response commenced. Under this contract American Medical Response - West (AMR) and the San Mateo County Fire Service became the providers through a public/private partnership. In addition, Public Safety Communications (PSC) assumed the responsibility for countywide fire dispatch services with all agencies (except South San Francisco) effective December 1998.
Discussion
The attached chart identifies a) number of fire and ambulance service requests ; b) dispatch response times for high priority fire and ambulance calls; and c) percent of compliance in which fire and ambulance met their contractual response time requirements for the period of October 2000 through March 2001.
Conclusion
The EMS Agency and Dispatch Center staff continue to work with all members of the EMS delivery system to ensure that the system is continually refined in an effort to streamline operations. Relationships are highly developed and all participants work cooperatively together to achieve the common goal of providing superior levels of service.
