Background
In September 1984, you approved a resolution establishing an Employee of the Month program and in December 1984, you honored the first San Mateo County Employee of the Month.

The Selection Committee has reviewed the nominations and recommends that Cara Duran, Community Worker II, in the Human Services Agency be the September Employee of the Month.

Discussion
A County employee for over 8 years, Cara was nominated by her co-workers who state that she is the reason Peninsula Works in Daly City runs so well. She deserves credit for the role she played in making the Success Program a nationally known program that has been the model for other agencies. Additionally her assistance in the design of the One-Stop Center in Daly City, particularly her expertise in computer technology, was invaluable.

As a Community Worker, Cara assists clients prepare resumes, conducts workshops, and meets employers. She is known as "Creative Cara" because of her willingness to use her many talents to meet the varied needs at the Center. She goes out of her way to help and always comments, "Yes, I'll do that." Her bright disposition and smile make the Center a better place to work.

Our County is fortunate to have Cara Duran as one of its outstanding employees.
