RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AMENDMENT OF THE CONTRACT WITH BLUE SHIELD OF CALIFORNIA TO EXTEND THE TERM THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2001.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, a Labor-Management-Retiree Committee has been analyzing Blue Shield premium increases and identifying plan design changes to reduce overall premium increases and;

WHEREAS, the County desires to bring the Blue Shield plan into alignment with Aetna and Kaiser on a calendar year renewal basis and;

WHEREAS, the Labor-Management-Retiree Committee is finalizing recommendations for plan design changes and desires to discuss these preliminary recommendations before making final recommendations to the Board;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby, authorized and directed to execute the amendment to the contract with Blue Shield to extend the term from October 1, 2001 through December 31, 2001 for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signature thereto.
