EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Consideration of renaming the northern segment of Mirada Road to "North Mirada Road" and its southern segment to "South Mirada Road," located in both unincorporated Miramar and the City of Half Moon Bay.
RECOMMENDATION | ||
Adopt the resolution to rename a public street, County File Number PLN 2000-00382, by making the required finding and adopting the conditions of approval.
PROPOSAL | ||
The U.S. Postal Service proposes to rename the northern segment of Mirada Road "North Mirada Road" and the southern segment "South Mirada Road." The proposal also includes renumbering the northern segment by adding a "0" to each address and renumbering the north side of the southern segment to coincide with the City of Half Moon Bay's numbering on the south side of the street.
PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION
The Planning Commission voted 4-0 (Commissioners Bomberger was absent) to recommend that the Board of Supervisors adopt the resolution to rename a public street by making the required finding and adopting the conditions of approval.
BACKGROUND | ||
The project was initiated by the U. S. Postal Service which was finding difficulty in effectively delivering the mail to residents and businesses alike on this street. The project was referred to a number of agencies including County Communications Dispatch. Through the process of referrals and neighborhood input, a number of proposals emerged for review. The three proposals were presented to the Planning Commission on February 28, 2000, with staff recommending that both segments of the road be renamed as well as renumbered.
SUMMARY | ||
The key issues of this project involve: (1) the safety of the residents and businesses which occupy both segments of what is now called Mirada Road; and (2) the concerns of those residents and business owners regarding financial and logistical impacts. The Planning Commission reviewed staff's proposal and recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt the resolution to: (1) rename both segments of Mirada Road to "North Mirada Road" and "South Mirada Road,"; and (2) renumber the northern segment and the northern side of the southern segment.
