EXTENSION OF MASTER PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH NEXTIRA
Recommendation
Adopt a resolution authorizing the extension of the Master Purchase Agreement with Nextira for one year from December 31, 2001 to December 30, 2002 to correct a typographical error.
Background
Your Board approved Resolution #63193 at your November 16, 1999 meeting authorizing Nextira, formerly Williams Communications, to provide telephone equipment services for a period from January 1, 1999 through December 31, 2001. The original termination date was incorrect in the Resolution and Board letter, however the agreement was correct. The Master Purchase Agreement was negotiated for a three-year period. The date on the Board Resolution and letter should have been January 1, 1999 through December 30, 2002.
Discussion
The County is presently in the final phase of an extensive countywide telephone upgrade project. Nextira was originally chosen through a competitive bid process for their total integration and service. The final phase has begun, and we anticipate it will be completed by mid 2002.
The remaining components of the final phase are the installation of the new electronic telephone directory, upgrades to the eleven PBX systems, and modifications to various switches and interactive voice response systems. These tasks should be installed by mid 2002 with a follow up period for verification of functionality and testing
Fiscal Impact
The original amount allocated for this project is 1.3 million. No new allocations are necessary to complete this project. The funds are included in the Information Service Department's budget.
