RESOLUTION CREATING THE*******,

SPECIFYING THE RESPONSIBILITIES AND MEMBERSHIP THEREOF, AND STANDING RULES FOR ITS GOVERNANCE

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors wishes to create a ******* (name of body), whose purpose is to ********************, and

WHEREAS, the ***** is authorized by ******* (specify applicable statutory mandates, if any):

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED as follows:

 

1.

There is hereby created the ************* (specify name of board/commission or advisory committee), whose purpose is to *******. Note- (For groups already in existence, this could say "confirmed" rather than "created"). To the extent this resolution requires changes from previous practices regarding this Board/Commission/Advisory Committee, those changes shall be effective ******** (specify effective date).

 

2.

Subject to the categorical membership requirements set forth herein, the members of the ******* shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

 

3.

Members appointed by the Board of Supervisors shall serve terms of four years, which shall begin and end on *******(specify Jan. 1, Apr. 1, July 1 or Oct. 1). Upon the conclusion of a term, a member may be reappointed subject to a maximum of twelve years of full terms. The twelve year limit does not include partial terms to which members may be appointed at the beginning of their service, or holdover service caused by delay in appointing a replacement at the end of a member's service.

 

4.

"Categorical members" are those who serve by virtue of their public or other specifically designated office, and those members terms shall be for the term of their office. (Note- use this only if the group includes categorical members.)

 

5.

Initially, lots shall be drawn so that terms will be staggered into two, three and four year terms. (Note-- The last sentence only applies to newly created groups, and is intended to make sure that all terms do not expire at the same time.)
