Honorable Board of Supervisors |
FROM: |
Neil R. Cullen, Director of Public Works |
SUBJECT: |
Installation of Stop Signs on Hamilton Way, Woodland Way and Kataoka Court - Emerald Hills Area |
|
Recommendation |
Adopt a resolution authorizing the installation of stop signs at the intersection of Hamilton Way, Woodland Way and Kataoka Court. |
|
Key Facts |
Stop signs are warranted as there is limited sight distance for motorists approaching this intersection. |
|
Discussion |
We conducted a traffic study of the above described intersection at the request of local resident and confirmed that the safety of motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians would be increased by the addition of stop signs, as the sight distance on all approaches to this intersection is limited due to vegetation or the adjacent steep terrain. |
|
Vision Alignment |
We believe our recommendation to install stop signs is consistent with Goal Number 7, "Maintain and Enhance the Public Safety of all Residents and Visitors" of the Shared Vision Commitment of "Ensure Basic Health and Safety for All." |
|
Fiscal Impact |
Installing the stop signs is estimated to cost $1,000 and is proposed to be funded with Road Funds. There is no impact to the General Fund. |
|
A form of resolution authorizing the installation of the stop signs has been approved by County Counsel |
