BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF THE HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY OR HER DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT A PLAN TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES FOR THE USE OF CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION INTERVENTION AND TREATMENT (CAPIT), AND THE COMMUNITY BASED FAMILY RESOURCE AND SUPPORT (CBFRS) FUNDS.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the California Department of Social Services Office of Child Abuse Prevention is due to renew the three year funding cycle with San Mateo County for CAPIT funds ($177,874 FY 2002-2003; $182,814 FY 2003-2004, and $185,306 FY 2004-2005); and;

WHEREAS, the California Department of Social Services Office of Child Abuse Prevention is also allocating San Mateo County $13,000 CBFRS funding for FY 2003-2005; and;

WHEREAS, the Children's Collaborative Action Team, the San Mateo County Child Abuse Council, and other public and private non profit agencies, and foundations have developed a three year plan; and;

WHEREAS, the plan provides comprehensive and integrated child abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment services to children at risk of abuse and neglect or their families; and

WHEREAS, the CAPIT and CBFRS funds support the local Child Abuse Council's efforts and will be awarded to agencies in a competitive process.

NOW, THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND RESOLVED THAT the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors recognizes the importance of providing comprehensive child abuse prevention and treatment services and encourages the integration of such services.

NOW, THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND RESOLVED THAT the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors authorizes the Director of the Human Services Agency or her designee to submit the three year plan to the California Department of Social Services for the use of the CAPIT and CBFRS funds; and

NOW, THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND RESOLVED THAT the President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to adopt this resolution on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board of Supervisors shall attest her signature hereto.
