RESOLUTION CREATING AND FUNDING A SAN MATEO COUNTY

AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on October 23, 2001, this Board received the consultant's report to Peninsula Interfaith Action and the Advisory Committee regarding the implementation of a Housing Trust Program for San Mateo County, and directed county staff to continue working on said program, and;

WHEREAS, this Board has long recognized the need for affordable housing in San Mateo County and has taken steps, including various financial commitments, in the past to address that need; and

WHEREAS, The Human Services Agency Office of Housing has submitted a grant application to the Peninsula Community Foundation for a $1 million grant to supplement its affordable housing program, including the funding of a Housing Trust Program; and

WHEREAS, this Board is prepared to create and fund a program that will help to address the need for affordable housing.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED as follows:

1. That there is hereby established a sub-committee of this Board to provide oversight of the development of the San Mateo County Housing Trust Fund Program;

2. Said program shall be funded by the $1 Million presently committed, plus $2 Million more, from the County General Fund reserves.
