A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE CERTIFICATE OF THE CHIEF ELECTIONS OFFICER, ADOPTING AS THE OFFICIAL VOTE THE CERTIFIED STATEMENT OF THE RESULTS OF THE MARCH 5, 2002 GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARY ELECTION, DECLARING THE PERSON (S) ELECTED TO CERTAIN OFFICES VOTED ON, AND DECLARING THE RESULTS AS TO CERTAIN MEASURES VOTED ON. |

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that |
|
WHEREAS, the Chief Elections Officer has completed the official canvass of the complete returns of the votes cast at the Gubernatorial Primary Election held throughout the County of San Mateo on March 5, 2002, and has prepared in accordance with law an abstract or Statement of Votes polled at said election held on said date; and; |
|
WHEREAS, the Chief Elections Officer will deliver a duplicate of the certified statement to the California Secretary of State and to the county central committee of each political party; and; |
|
WHEREAS, the Chief Elections Officer will submit to the governing bodies of the city and school districts the certificates of the election so that each shall declare at this election under its jurisdiction the results of each measure voted on, pursuant to Elections Code §15400; and; |
|
WHEREAS, this Board is the Governing Body for the County of San Mateo; and |
|
WHEREAS, the Chief Elections Officer will deliver to each person elected a certificate of election, signed and authorized by the Chief Elections Officer. |
|
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Deputy Clerk of the Board shall enter upon the minutes of this meeting of this Board of Supervisors said abstract or Statement of Votes polled at said election; and |
|
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said abstract or Statement of Votes polled shall be and is hereby adopted as the official vote of said election throughout the County of San Mateo, State of California, on March 5, 2002; and |
|
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following named persons, having received the highest number of votes for their respective offices, are hereby ordered and declared duly elected: |

I, WARREN SLOCUM, Chief Elections Officer of the County of San Mateo, State of California, do hereby certify that the gubernatorial primary election was conducted pursuant to law throughout said county on March 5, 2002 for the purpose of electing candidates for certain offices and for submission to the voters of various measures; and |
|
I HEREBY FURTHER CERTIFY the following facts: that at said primary election 532 election precincts were duly established with 500 operating precinct boards; that the election was conducted thereat pursuant to law; that pursuant to Division 15, Chapter 4 of the California Elections Code, I have canvassed the votes cast at all precincts which was 80,083; that 41,577 absentee votes were cast, canvassed, and included in the result of the total of 121,660 votes cast which is accurately shown in the statement attached hereto and made a part hereof. |
