Recommended Revision to the Salary Ordinance

Recommendation

Adopt an ordinance amending the salary ordinance and accept the report on the total number of positions in the County.

Summary

The salary ordinance changes herein represent:

· adding two positions

· adding one differential, and

· reclassifying one position.

These actions were approved by the County Manager's Office.

The reclassification action represents a monthly salary and benefit cost of $295 or an annual cost of $3540.

This amendment has been reviewed by the County Counsel's Office.

ORGANIZATION 15000 TAX COLLECTOR-TREASURER'S OFFICE

Action:

Add: A 5.7% differential for one employee in the Information Technology Manager classification who is given responsibility for coordinating the multiple projects impacting fiscal and related departments.

Explanation:

This is the addition of a differential for one staff member who is responsible for coordinating multiple projects impacting all fiscal and related departments. These projects are broad in scope and impact beyond the Tax Collector-Treasurer's Office and the additional responsibilities are outside of the scope of the Information Technology Manager classification. The differential will compensate for the additional responsibilities. This action results in no change in the total number of authorized positions.

ORGANIZATION 19500 CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FIRST PROGRAM

Action:

Add: One position of B182S, Community Program Specialist - unclassified series

Biweekly Salary: $1527.20 - 2508.80

Approximate Monthly Salary: $3309 - 5436

Explanation:

This is the addition of one position of Community Program Specialist. This position will provide a variety of grant program budgeting and management support services for the CFFP. The addition of this position has been approved by the CFFP governing board. The action represents a monthly salary and benefits cost of $7067 based on filling the position at the top step in the range. The action increases the total number of authorized positions by one.

ORGANIZATION 55000 HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION

Action:

Delete: One position of E006, Administrative Secretary III-Confidential

Biweekly Salary: $1520.80 - 1900.80

Approximate Monthly Salary: $3295 - 4119

Add: One position of E029, Administrative Assistant I

Biweekly Salary: $1604.80 - 2005.60

Approximate Monthly Salary: $3477 - 4346

Explanation:

This is the deletion of one existing vacant Administrative Secretary III-Confidential position and the addition of one position of Administrative Assistant I. This position will be used to provide support to the Health Officer in the areas of research, data collection and analysis, development and delivery of community presentations, contracts' development and management, and supervision of support services employees. This action represents a monthly salary and benefits cost of $295 based on filling the position at the top step in the range. There is no change in the total number of authorized positions.

ORGANIZATION 70000 HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY

Action:

Add: One position B183S, Community Worker - unclassified series

Biweekly Salary: $1134.40 - 1567.20

Approximate Monthly Salary: $2458 - 3396

Explanation:

This is the addition of one new position of Community Worker to the Human Services Agency. The position will provide community outreach and information and referral services for the Pescadero and La Honda communities under auspices of the South Coast Collaborative. The position is funded through the Healthy Start grant. The addition of this position represents a monthly salary and benefits cost of $4415 based on filling the position at the top step in the range. The action increases the total number of authorized positions by one.
