*COMMENDING AND HONORING*

*SERGEANT ROBERT DEAN*

UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE DALY CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

	WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California that one of Daly City's finest, SERGEANT ROBERT DEAN, retired on March 29, 2001 after over 33 years of public service; and

	WHEREAS, ROBERT DEAN* began his law enforcement career on December 18, 1967, when he was appointed to the Daly City Police Department; and*

	WHEREAS, Officer ROBERT DEAN* worked diligently for the Department, and in 1983, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant; and*

	WHEREAS, during his tenure, SERGEANT ROBERT DEAN had various assignments, including: Defensive Tactics Instructor, Baton Instructor, member of the Detective Division, Liaison to the Anti-Graffiti Abatement Program, and member of the Strategic Planning Committee; and

	WHEREAS, SERGEANT ROBERT DEAN is also known for his many accomplishments. He was a member of the Olympic Fencing Team and is a 3^rd Degree Black Belt in Shotukan Karate. As a dedicated student of Judo, Jui Jitsu and Akido, SERGEANT ROBERT DEAN is also Sensei at the Neutral Territory Dojo; and

	WHEREAS, SERGEANT ROBERT DEAN's* commitment to protect and serve the community is admirable. ROBERT has left behind a legacy of honor, pride and integrity.*

	NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, does hereby join the family, friends and colleagues of SERGEANT ROBERT DEAN in honoring him for his years of dedicated public service to the citizens of Daly City, with best wishes for many happy and healthy years ahead.
