Resolution Adopting an Increase in Aggregate Payments to Contractor for the Seismic Retrofit - Phase III, Old San Mateo County Courthouse, Redwood City, California (Project No. P8201)

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors did, on April 24, 2001, adopt Resolution No. 64400, which awarded and authorized execution of a contract with Gonsalves and Stronck Construction Company, for the Seismic Retrofit - Phase III at the San Mateo County Courthouse in Redwood City; and

 

WHEREAS, the County entered into an agreement with Gonsalves and Stronck Construction Company, General Contractors, as authorized by said resolution; and

 

WHEREAS, Paragraph 14 of said agreement provides that aggregate payments to Gonsalves and Stronck, Construction Company, shall not exceed $272,000 without this Board's approval; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that additional seismic fasteners be installed to anchor the veneer to the structure; and

 

WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the changes in the project as described above will increase the overall contract cost to an amount greater than was originally authorized by this Board.

 

WHEREAS, this Board has considered the recommendation of the Director of Public Works.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that:

 

1.

Paragraph 14 of the agreement is hereby amended to provide that aggregate payment to Gonsalves and Stronck Construction Company, General Contractors, Inc., for said work shall not exceed the sum of Two Hundred Seventy-Nine Thousand Dollars ($279,000) without this Board's approval.

 

2.

With the exception of modifications as herein provided, the agreement with Gonsalves and Stronck Construction Company, General Contractors, Inc. entered into on March 27, 2001, shall remain unchanged.
