BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION DECLARING UNCLAIMED MONIES, UNKNOWN HEIRS AND ABANDONED PROPERTY IN THE COUNTY TREASURY, PROPERTY OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO AND TRANSFERRING SAID UNCLAIMED MONIES TO THE GENERAL FUND OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, there was currently on deposit with the County Treasurer of the County of San Mateo in various funds entitled "Unclaimed Monies", "Unknown Heirs" and "Abandoned Property" the total sum of $93,903.67, which remained unclaimed in the County Treasury of the County of San Mateo for more than three years and which sums were received through different departments of said County as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto; and

WHEREAS, the County Treasurer has caused appropriate notice to be published in the form and manner provided by 50050 and 50051 of the Government Code in the San Mateo County Times, a newspaper of general circulation published in the County of San Mateo, as appears from the affidavit of publication on file with the Clerk of this Board; and

WHEREAS, claims in the amount of $19,162.07 have been paid, leaving a balance of $74,741.60 and after the exercise of due diligence it is necessary and desirable to provide for the escheat of said monies to the County of San Mateo pursuant to 50050 et seq. of the Government Code; and

WHEREAS, the unclaimed monies in the amount of $74,741.60 have become the property of the County of San Mateo, and this Board of Supervisors desires to transfer said monies from the special funds in which said monies have been deposited to the General Fund of County of San Mateo in the manner provided by law;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED:

(1) That the unclaimed monies totaling $74,741.60 on deposit with the County Treasurer of the County of San Mateo described in Exhibit "A", attached hereto, shall be and hereby are declared to be the property of the County of San Mateo;

(2) That the County Controller of the County of San Mateo is hereby authorized and directed to transfer said unclaimed monies to the General Fund of the County of San Mateo;

(3) That the Clerk of this Board is hereby authorized and directed to send certified copies to the County Controller, the County Treasurer and the County departments set forth in Exhibit "A".
