RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ASSISTANT COUNTY MANAGER TO INITIATE THE SELECTION PROCESS FOR A QUALIFIED CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT FIRM FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE SAN MATEO COUNTY YOUTH SERVICES CENTER

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, after a study of the Hillcrest Juvenile Hall and a Juvenile Justice Needs Assessment in 1998, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors directed staff to develop a more comprehensive approach in an effort to possibly reduce the number of required beds; and;

WHEREAS, this effort has been renewed for a new Needs Assessment based upon the Board's directive and Voorhis Associates Inc. was engaged to accomplish the task; and;

WHEREAS, Voorhis Associates Inc. has recently completed the Needs Assessment and Program Statement in compliance with the Board's previous directive, from which a more comprehensive facility can be planned, designed and built; and;

WHEREAS, it is recommended that a Request for Proposal (RFP) now be issued to initiate the selection process for a qualified construction manager for the proposed Youth Services Center;;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Assistant County Manager is hereby authorized to release a Request for Proposal for qualified construction management firms for design and construction of a new San Mateo County Youth Services Center.
