RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH SAN MATEO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION FOR COURT AND COMMUNITY SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAM, LITERACY/NUMERACY INSTRUCTION AND LEARNING PROGRAM, AND YOUTH AND FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT SERVICES

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, on May 22, 2001, San Mateo County Resolution Number 64445 was adopted that approved the San Mateo County Comprehensive Multiagency Juvenile Justice Plan/Crime Prevention Act 2000 to be funded by the Schiff-Cardenas Crime Prevention Act of 2000 administered by the California State Board of Corrections; and

 

WHEREAS, the plan is a multi-agency collaborative effort among Probation, the Sheriff, Health and Mental Health Services, Human Services, schools and community-based organizations, the County Manager's Office and the Board of Supervisors to enhance outcomes by providing diverse services with specialized expertise to a targeted population; and

 

WHEREAS, said targeted population shall be San Mateo County youth identified as at-risk of repeat offending, and/or having significant discrepancies between chronological age and reading and math performance; and

 

WHEREAS, on April 16, 2002, the Board of Supervisors approved the revised CPA 2000 Plan, now called the Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act (JJCPA), for FY 2002-03; and

 

WHEREAS, San Mateo County Office of Education, as part of the multi-agency collaboration, shall provide services, including a licensed clinical social worker and the required supplies and materials to deliver non-crisis counseling services to the San Mateo County Court and Community School students; two coaches; required testing and instructional/specialized materials to the Literacy/Numeracy Program; and one instructional assistant, supplies and materials, to support the classroom teacher at the new Youth and Family Resource Center; and

 

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance, an agreement, as presented in the CPA 2000 Plan for FY 2001-02 and the Revised JJCPA Plan for FY 2002-03; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors desires to enter into the agreement with San Mateo County Office of Education.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of the Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized to execute said agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo and the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors shall attest the President's signature thereto.
