Resolution Increasing Program Fees for the Sheriff's Work Program (SWP)

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, Penal Code Section 4024.2(a), provides that this Board may authorize the Sheriff to provide a voluntary program under which any person sentenced to a County Correctional Facility may perform labor for specified institutions in lieu of confinement, on a day for day basis; and

WHEREAS, Penal Code Section 1208.2 (b) (1) and Penal Code Section 4024.2(e) authorizes this Board to prescribe a program administrative fee to be paid by persons electing to participate in said Program; said fee to cover the costs of administration of said Program by the Sheriff; and

WHEREAS, this Board authorized the current fee with Board Resolution No. 63673, adopted June 20, 2000;and

WHEREAS, the Sheriff has requested that said fees be revised to reflect the increased cost of operation of the SWP, and has certified that the fees do not exceed the actual cost of operation of the said Program; and

WHEREAS, this Board finds that it is necessary and desirable to increase the SWP fees commensurate with increased operating costs; and

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT;
Effective July 1, 2002, the Board authorizes the Sheriff to increase the SWP application, per diem and rescheduling fees as listed below:

One-time * Application Fee $60.00
Per-diem Participation Fee $20.00
Rescheduling Fee $35.00

* Per instance of separate sentence served, or multiple sentences concurrently served
