Resolution Authorizing Execution of an Agreement with the Santa Clara Valley Water District, City of East Palo Alto, City of Menlo Park and City of Palo Alto for the San Francisquito Creek Levee Restoration and Floodwall Reconstruction Project

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, Acting as the Governing Board of the San Mateo County Flood Control District, that

WHEREAS, the levees along San Francisquito Creek downstream of Highway 101 are intended to provide flood protection for the residents and businesses of East Palo Alto and Palo Alto; and

WHEREAS, said levees have subsided and do not provide the level of flood protection that they were designed to provide when the levees were built in 1958; and

WHEREAS, the Member Agencies of the San Francisquito Creek Joint Powers Authority have determined to collaborate on a project to restore the levees to the 1958 design elevation.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of the Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute an Agreement with the Santa Clara Valley Water District and the Cities of East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto for Reconstruction and Maintenance of Levees and Floodwalls on San Francisquito Creek in the vicinity of Highway 101, for and on behalf of the San Mateo County Flood Control District and the signature of the Clerk of the Board shall attest thereto.
