BOARD MEETING DATE:

TO:

Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:

Paul T. Scannell, Assistant County Manager

SUBJECT:

Third Amendment to Lease with Mantoani Properties for the Agricultural/Weights and Measures Division Office in Half Moon Bay (Lease No. 1196)

Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the President of the Board of Supervisors to execute a Third Amendment to Lease with Mantoani Properties to extend the term of the agreement.

Background
The Agricultural/Weights and Measures Division's Coastside Field Office has been located at 785 Main Street in Half Moon Bay since 1994. This lease expires on May 31, 2002. The Environmental Services Agency desires to extend the term of the agreement through December 31, 2002. As a result, this agreement would expire on the same date as the Environmental Services Agency's nearby lease of office space at 625 Miramontes Road, Half Moon Bay. In the event of future relocation, a consolidation to a single site is probable.

Discussion
The Third Amendment presented for your consideration extends the term of the lease to December 31, 2002.

The Director of the Environmental Services Agency concurs with our recommendation. County Counsel has reviewed and approved the Third Amendment to Lease as to form.

Vision Alignment
The Third Amendment To Lease Agreement keeps the commitment of responsive, effective and collaborative government and goal number 20: Government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impact, rather than temporary relief or gain. The agreement contributes to this commitment and goal since it establishes a working agreement that benefits both the public as well as the County by providing a field office on the coast.

Fiscal Impact
The Environmental Services Agency has sufficient money budgeted for the current fiscal year. Funding for the proposed amendment has been included in the recommended budget of the Environmental Services Agency for fiscal year 2002/2003.
