SUBJECT: |
Acceptance of a Donation of Kitchen Equipment |
|
Recommendation |
Adopt a resolution accepting a donation of used kitchen equipment valued at approximately $7,000 for Fire Station 17 (Belmont). |
|
Background |
Mr. And Mrs. David Popky of 930 La Senda Road in Hillsborough offered to donate a used Wolf stove, freezer and dishwasher valued at $7,000 to Fire Station 17. The Popky's are County residents who recently remodeled their home's kitchen. As a result of the current heightened awareness of public safety issues following September 11th, the Popky's decided to donate their used equipment to a local fire department. |
|
Discussion |
County Fire has analyzed the Popky's offer to donate kitchen equipment and believes it is in the best interest of the County. County Fire accepts the Popky's representation that they would like to dispose of excess equipment in a manner to benefit the public. The Popky's are not affiliated with County Fire or the County of San Mateo. |
|
Vision Alignment |
Acceptance of this kitchen equipment keeps the commitment of ensuring basic health and safety for all and goal number seven: maintaining and enhancing the public safety of all residents and visitors. The acceptance of the equipment contributes to this commitment and goal by providing improved facilities for fire safety personnel. |
|
Fiscal Impact |
There is no Net County Cost impact. This action will result in savings to the Structural Fire Fund of approximately $7,000. |
