SUBJECT:

First Amendment To Lease Agreement with 2117 Broadway Partners for Office Space at 2121 Broadway, Redwood City, for the Women, Infant and Children's Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC) Lease No. 1210

Recommendation

Adopt a Resolution authorizing the President of the Board of Supervisors to execute a First Amendment To Lease Agreement with 2117 Broadway Partners for clinic and office space at 2121 Broadway, Redwood City, for the Women, Infant, and Children's Supplemental Nutrition Program.

Background

Since 1996 the Women's, Infant and Children Nutritional Program (WIC) has occupied an office and clinic at 2121 Broadway in Redwood City. The lease agreement expired on November 30, 2001.

Discussion

A First Amendment To Lease Agreement has been negotiated to extend the term of the agreement through November 30, 2002 and provide three (3) one year options to renew the lease under the same terms and conditions.

The Director of Health Services concurs with this recommendation. County Counsel has reviewed and approved the amendment as to form.

Vision Alignment

The First Amendment keeps the commitment of responsive, effective and collaborative government and goal number 22: County and local governments effectively communicate, collaborate and develop strategic approaches to issues affecting the entire County. The amendment contributes to this commitment and goal 22 by providing health services to the participants of the WIC Program.

Fiscal Impact

The WIC Program is funded by the State Department of Health Services.
