BOARD MEETING DATE:

TO:

Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:

Paul T. Scannell, Assistant County Manager

SUBJECT:

First Amendment To Lease with Famiat Enterprises for the Lease of Office Space for a Field Office for the Department of Publics Work's Colma Creek Project (Lease No. 1230)

Recommendation

Adopt a Resolution authorizing the President of the Board of Supervisors to execute a First Amendment To Lease to modify the term of the lease and increase the monthly rent.

Background

Since 1999, the Department of Public Works has occupied a portion of the office at 131 Terminal Court in South San Francisco for the purpose of a construction/field office in connection with its Colma Creek Project.

Discussion

The First Amendment has been negotiated with Famiat Enterprises for a month-to-month tenancy. Commencing on May 1, 2002 the rent will be increased by 4% from $210 to $219 per month, which is considered to be fair market rent.

The Director of Public Works concurs with this recommendation. County Counsel has
Reviewed and approved the First Amendment as to form.

Vision Alignment

The First Amendment To Lease keeps the commitment of responsive, effective and collaborative government and goal number 20: Government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impact, rather than temporary relief or immediate gain. The agreement contributes to this commitment and goal since it establishes a working agreement with benefits to the County of San Mateo and Famiat Enterprises.

Fiscal Impact

Funds have been budgeted for the increase in rent.
