Resolution Authorizing Execution of An Amendment to The Agreement Between San Mateo County Human Services Agency and Shelter Network for Transitional Housing for Families Involved in Juvenile Court Dependency Due to Substance Abuse, to 1) increase the Contract Amount 2) extend the terms of the agreement and 3) include equal benefits compliance

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, on June 19, 2001, by Resolution No. 64543, the Board of Supervisors authorized execution of an Agreement to provide Shelter Network's First Step Program with $750,000 in return for setting aside five transitional units for families with substance abuse issues and who are referred by the Juvenile Court ("Agreement"); and

 

WHEREAS, Shelter Network is in the process of constructing emergency and transitional housing through the renovation of its First Step for Families facility at 319 and 325 Villa Terrace in San Mateo (the "Project"); and

 

WHEREAS, Shelter Network provides transitional housing and housing services and a general range of support services to families in drug and alcohol recovery; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code, Section 31000, County may contract with independent contractors for the furnishing of such services to or for the County or any Department/Agency thereof; and

 

WHEREAS, of the $750,000 allocated under the Agreement, $250,000 was to be used for program services, and $500,000 was to provide Shelter Network the capacity to expand shelter care services for families in need; during the FY 2002-2002 budget, this board allocated $350,00 for use by Contractor for capital purposes and in the FY 2002-2003, the CALWORKS program allocated $125,000 for use by the Contractor for program services; and

 

WHEREAS, the Parties now wish to amend the agreement to provide the contractor with additional funding of $475,000, for a total amount of $1,225,000 and extend the term of the agreement from June 1, 2001 to June 30, 2003; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Amendment to Agreement and said Board has examined and approved same as both form and content and desires to enter into same;

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors hereby acknowledges the correction of the Agreement term, and; be authorized and directed to ratify the Human Services Agency Director's signature to the Agreement.
