First Amendment to the Agreement with the City of San Mateo for the Maintenance of Fire Suppression Equipment
Recommendation |
Adopt a resolution authorizing an extension of the existing Agreement with the City of San Mateo to provide maintenance of fire suppression equipment through County Fire for a period of sixty days. |
Background |
On July 3, 2001, County Fire entered into an agreement with the City of San Mateo to provide maintenance of the City's fire suppression equipment at the County Fire Belmont Station. During the first year of the agreement, approximately 60 pieces of fire apparatus have been serviced by California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and San Mateo County Fire Department mechanics. Funds from this contract have been utilized to make much needed upgrades to the automotive repair facility at the Belmont Fire Station. |
Discussion |
County Fire staff is currently discussing the renewal of the agreement with City of San Mateo personnel. It would be in the best interest of both parties to temporarily extend the existing contract for sixty days, on a prorated basis, while the details of the new agreement are being finalized. |
Vision Alignment |
The agreement with the City of San Mateo keeps the commitment of creating responsible, effective and collaborative government, and goal number 20: County and local governments effectively communicate, collaborate and develop strategic approaches to issues affecting the entire County. The agreement contributes to this commitment and goal by providing a collaborative solution to a need that is beneficial to both parties. |
Fiscal Impact |
The amendment to the agreement will result in $25,000 of revenue to the Structural Fire Fund and has been included in the Recommended Budget. |
