Background

On October 2, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved Resolution No. 64828 awarding a contract to Turner Construction Company in the amount of $1,037,404.00 for construction management of Phase 5C, '54 Building Remodel, of the San Mateo County Health Center Additions and Renovations Project. The County is responsible only for changes initiated by the County or caused by unforeseeable circumstances; the trade contractors or Turner are responsible for other costs.

Discussion

The first seven revision orders amended the original Turner contract to include trade contracts; clock system; removal of x-ray equipment; upgrade of 26 PBX alarms; chilled water system improvements; emergency power design and revisions; relocation of data/power for pleion systems; door; communications rack and cardkey revisions; deletion of a window; window refurbishing; relocation of a corridor wall; Amerinet credit; changes to the layout of the Private Dining Room and Security Locker Room; remodel of the 3rd Floor Doctor's offices; Medical Records layout revision; credit allowance for the painting contract; deletion of a tile wall in surgery; additional cable for the PBX area; additional 30 amp circuits; restroom sound insulation; Cardkey software for a remote station; additional tube steel framing supports per OSHPD requirements at the 3rd Floor link; Code Blue Nursecall upgrade; Cardkey added to PBX; Computer Training Room telephone; demolition of furred walls in Security; capping a steam leak in Cafeteria; and enlarging the Linen Room door.

Revision Order 8 includes the installation of video equipment; installation of a door at the West Loading Dock; Turner fee adjustment reconciliation; adding a 2nd Floor janitor closet; 3rd Floor window glazing; electrical/communication revisions for pleion; installation of a door in the Board Conference Room; deletion of casework and sink in Room 265; and additional electrical/communications for the 3rd Floor temporary move.

 

Vision Alignment

This revision order to the contract with Turner Construction keeps the commitment of Ensuring Basic Health and Safety for All and goal number 5: Residents have access to healthcare and preventive care. This contract revision order contributes to this commitment and goal by continuing the remodeling and renovation of the San Mateo County Health Center.

 

Fiscal Impact

The project is funded by the sale of Lease Revenue Bonds, 1994 Series A. Funds are available in the project account to pay for this Revision Order.
