SUBJECT:

Agreement With Dewey Pest Control

Recommendation

Adopt a resolution authorizing the President of the Board to execute an agreement with Dewey Pest Control to provide rodent control treatment along specific natural drainage creeks, waterfronts, recreational areas and various San Mateo County facilities.

Background

Environmental Health staff operates and oversees the rodent control program for the County of San Mateo. This program has been in continuous operation for over 20 years. Our objective is to provide an effective abatement program primarily directed toward the prevention, elimination, and control of rodent sources leading to diseases and public nuisance. To implement the program objectives, vector control personnel provide routine inspections of natural drainage creek areas and rip rap locations.

Discussion

The pest control company will install and maintain rodent bait stations along County of San Mateo's drainage creek areas.

The Vector Control personnel will inspect the installation and maintenance of the bait stations before compensation will be made to the pest control company.

The Purchasing Department advertised a request for proposal (RFP) from registered pest control companies to conduct a rodent control treatment program for the County of San Mateo. Three pest control companies responded to the RFP. Dewey Pest Control was chosen from the three companies based on their level of experience and performance history.
