RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE EXISTING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO AND APS/PINKERTON SECURITY AND INVESTIGATION SERVICES

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, there exists a need within the County of San Mateo for the continued provision of security services at various Court facilities, County facilities and service locations; and

WHEREAS, this Board has, on June 27, 2000, approved an Agreement (Resolution No. 63751) with APS/Pinkerton Security and Investigation Services, which expired on June 30,2002 but allowed for a two-year extension at County option upon written notice before the end of the contract term; and

WHEREAS, this Board has determined that it is in the County's best interest to extend the term of the agreement, the Contractor has consented to extend the agreement, and the Sheriff's Office has given Contractor the requisite written notice of County's desire to extend the agreement; and

WHEREAS, this board wishes to ratify the Sheriff's Office's notification to Pinkerton of the County's intent to extend the agreement; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that said Agreement be amended to provide for changes to the security services operating at various County facility locations, and to extend the term and funding of the amended Agreement through June 30, 2005;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of the Board of Supervisors be directed, and he is hereby so authorized, to execute an Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement between the County of San Mateo and APS/Pinkerton Security and Investigation Services, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest his signature thereto.

IT IS FURTHER DETERMINED AND ORDERED that this Board ratifies the Sheriff's Office's written notification to Pinkerton of the County's intent to extend the agreement.
