TO: |
Honorable Board of Supervisors |
FROM: |
Paul T. Scannell, Assistant County Manager |
SUBJECT: |
Resolution Authorizing Execution and Acceptance of an Amendment to Grant of Easement from Stanford University to Extend the Term of the Easement for a Public Foot and Horse Path Trail along Sand Hill Road (No. 1165) |
|
Recommendation |
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the President of the Board of Supervisors to execute and accept an Amendment To Grant of Easement for an unpaved public foot and horse path from Stanford University. |
|
Background |
In 1982 this Board accepted a dedication, by Stanford University, of an easement for an unpaved public foot and horse path extending from Whiskey Hill Road to Portola Road along Sand Hill Road near Woodside. This easement connects the existing Woodside trail system to the Portala Valley trail system. The easement expires on August 9, 2002. |
|
Discussion |
The Amendment To Grant of Easement extends the term of the easement for ten years through August 9, 2012 under the same terms and conditions contained in the original easement. |
|
County Counsel has reviewed and approved the Amendment as to form. The Director of Parks and Recreation concurs in our recommendation. |
|
Vision Alignment |
The Amendment To Grant of Easement keeps the commitment of responsive, effective and collaborative government and goal number 22: County and local governments effectively communicate, collaborate and develop strategic approaches to issues affecting the entire County. The Amendment To Grant of Easement contributes to this commitment since it establishes an agreement between the County and Stanford University while providing a trail for the public.

Fiscal Impact |
In consideration for the use of this trail easement, the County is required to maintain the easement, which currently costs the County approximately $5,000 annually. Funds have been budgeted in the Parks and Recreation's South County Trails Account for roads and trails for this fiscal year. |
