Recommendation |
Adopt a resolution:
|
1. |
Authorizing the execution of an Agreement with the Human Investment Project for a homesharing help and information program for the residents of San Mateo County in the amount of $105,000 for the period of August 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003.

2. |
Authorizing the Director of the Human Services Agency to execute subsequent amendments not to exceed a total of $25,000. |

Background |
This project was approved for inclusion in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Action Plan for FY 2002-03 on May 7, 2002, by the Board of Supervisors allocating $105,000 for affordable housing. The Human Investment Project has been performing placement services for the County of San Mateo for several years and has always met or exceeded their annual goals. |

Discussion |
The Human Investment Project will provide home sharing placement services, as defined in the Agreement, to 314 individuals. The Human Investment Project receives funds currently for FY 2001-02 and has placed a total of 158 individuals in shared housing arrangements.
County Counsel has reviewed and approved the agreement as to form. Risk Management has reviewed and approved the contractors insurance coverage. |

The Agreement with the Human Investment Project keeps the commitment to: Offer a full range of housing choices and goal number 9: Housing exists for people at all income levels and for all generations of families. The agreement contributes to this commitment and goal by providing permanent affordable housing to residents of San Mateo County. |

Fiscal Impact |
The total County obligation under this Agreement is $105,000, which is being provided by the CDBG Program. There are no General Funds used in this project. |
