BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF ELECTIONS OFFICER TO RENDER SPECIFIED ELECTION SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO (SUBJECT TO JUDICIAL AUTHORIZATION), CITY OF SAN MATEO, BELMONT-REDWOOD SHORES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT, HILLSBOROUGH CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND THE SAN MATEO UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE GUBERNATORIAL GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2002

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the City Council of the City of San Mateo adopted Resolution No. 86 calling for a measure to amend the City Charter to the voters of the City of San Mateo; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Governing Body of the Belmont-Redwood Shores Elementary School District adopted Resolution No. 1 calling for a special tax measure to be submitted to the voters of the Belmont-Redwood Shores Elementary School District; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Governing Body of the Hillsborough City School District adopted Resolution No 2002-16, amending the bond project list originally submitted with Resolution No. 2002-13 previously adopted by this Board at the August 6, 2002 meeting, which called for the submission of a bond measure to the voters of the Hillsborough City School District; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Governing Body of the San Mateo Union High School District adopted Resolution No. 02-17 to amend purposes of the November 2000 bond authorization and authorizing necessary actions in connection with calling for the submission of a bond measure to the voters of the San Mateo Union High School District; and

 

WHEREAS, (subject to judicial authorization), pursuant to State Law the City Council of the City of East Palo Alto adopted Resolution Nos. 2036, 2053, and 2054 calling for three measures to amend city ordinances providing for a transient occupancy tax and a utility users tax; and

 

WHEREAS, the Chief Elections Officer has been asked to perform certain services in conjunction with these elections; and

 

WHEREAS, the Chief Elections Officer is agreeable to providing these election services to the Cities and Districts; and

 

WHEREAS, in consideration of services and supplies provided by the Chief Elections Officer, the City of San Mateo, Belmont-Redwood Shores Elementary School District, Hillsborough City School District, and the San Mateo Union High School District will reimburse the County for the costs of these services and supplies.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors authorizes the Chief Elections Officer to render specified election services for the November 5, 2002 Gubernatorial General Election.
