BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF ELECTIONS OFFICER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR AVAILABLE FUNDING PURSUANT TO THE VOTING MODERNIZATION BOND ACT OF 2002 (SHELLEY-HERTZBERG ACT)

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the voters of the California and this County have approved a program to provide State funding for voting system modernization, as presented in Proposition 41 on the statewide ballot of March 5, 2002 (Voting Modernization Bond Act of 2002 (Shelley-Hertzberg Act) (AB 56, Chap. 902, Statutes of 2001); and;

 

WHEREAS, the Act authorizes State bonds to fund the Voting Modernization Fund and authorizes the Voting Modernization Board to administer the Fund; and;

 

WHEREAS, the Voting Modernization Board requires a County to submit an application for approval to participate in the program and requires that the application include a resolution or other document certifying the authorization of the applicant County's governing board; and;

 

WHEREAS, there has been presented to the Board of Supervisors for its consideration and approval a request by its Chief Elections Officer to submit such an application; and;

 

WHEREAS, the Board has reviewed said request and has determined that the best interests of the County would be served by its application to participate in the Fund program;

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Chief Elections Officer is hereby authorized to submit an application for available funding under the Voting Modernization Bond Act of 2002 (Shelley-Hertzberg Act).
