RESOLUTION DIRECTING STAFF TO WITHDRAW FROM FURTHER
COASTAL COMMISSION CONSIDERATION THE CONFINED ANIMAL
REGULATIONS LCP AMENDMENT REQUEST

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that:

 

WHEREAS, on November 6, 2001, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approved the Confined Animal Regulations to replace the County's Stable Ordinance; and

 

WHEREAS, on November 6, 2001, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 64834 directing staff to submit these zoning amendments to the Coastal Commission for certification of conformity with the California Coastal Act; and

 

WHEREAS, on April 8, 2002, Coastal Commission staff informed County staff that the proposed zoning amendments have been filed as San Mateo County Local Coastal Program Amendment 1-02 (Major) - Confined Animal Regulations; and

 

WHEREAS, on August 6, 2002, Coastal Commission staff informed County staff that: (1) San Mateo County has authority to administer the Confined Animal Regulations in the Coastal Zone, and (2) it is not necessary for the Coastal Commission to certify these regulations.

 

    NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that proposed San Mateo County Local Coastal Program Amendment 1-02 (Major) - Confined Animal Regulations is withdrawn.

 

        NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board of Supervisors directs staff to:

 

1.

Inform the California Coastal Commission that the County has withdrawn proposed San Mateo County Local Coastal Program Amendment 1-02 (Major) - Confined Animal Regulations.

   

2.

Request the Coastal Commission to terminate any further consideration of this amendment proposal.

   

3.

Begin immediately to administer the Confined Animal Regulations in the Coastal Zone.
