Resolution Authorizing the Director of Public Works to Submit to the United States Department of Agriculture an Application for Federal Assistance under the Federal Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program to Develop a New Water Well for the Community of Pescadero

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors created County Service Area No. 11 in June 1988 to provide water for the community of Pescadero; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors authorized the construction of a water system in 1991 to serve the Pescadero Rural Service Center area; and

 

WHEREAS, an expert assessment of the existing source of water for the Pescadero community indicates that based on current pumping rates the existing wells could fail due to lack of water in eight to fifteen years; and

 

WHEREAS, the water supply for the Community could be ensured for an additional thirty-years by the drilling of a new water well deeper into the aquifer;

 

WHEREAS, there is an opportunity to obtain financial assistance for the development of a new well for the Community of Pescadero from the United States Department of Agriculture.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that

 

1.

It is in the best interest of the County of San Mateo to submit an Application for Federal Assistance to the United States Department of Agriculture for a combination grant and loan under the Federal Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program for the development of a new well for the Community of Pescadero.

   

2.

The Director of Public Works shall be, and is hereby, authorized and directed, for and behalf of the County of San Mateo, to submit said Application and any other applications as may be necessary to secure said grant and loan as determined appropriate by the Director of Public Works.
