Employee of the Month for October 2002

Recommendation

Honor Betty Cattich as Employee of the Month for October 2002 and authorize the President of the Board to sign the commendation.

Background

The Employee of the Month program was established in December 1984 to recognize and honor County employees who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.

Our Employee of the Month for October 2002 is Betty Cattich, Legal Office Specialist in the Sheriff's Office.

Discussion

A County employee since 1980, Betty has been assigned to the Sheriff's Office Court Security/Transportation Unit for the past five years. This is one of the most demanding positions for a civilian in the Sheriff's Office and Betty is the backbone of the unit.

Betty is responsible for contacting various jails in the State when there is an outstanding warrant and making arrangements with the facility for Deputies to pick up the inmate to be returned to the County jail. She also arranges extradiction pick-ups from other states. All arrangements require very detailed and precise paperwork, which must be completed accurately and thoroughly and within specific time frames. She is constantly on the telephone.

Even though she is under a lot of pressure because of the large volume of work she must perform, Betty always maintains a warm and friendly attitude along with a strong dedication to her duties. Betty always displays a wonderful disposition. This is quite evident as one listens to Betty as she talks to Deputy Sheriffs, court personnel, record's keepers from various state facilities and especially when she speaks or deals with the general public. Betty does this difficult and demanding job every day of the week in a very dedicated and professional manner.

Our County is fortunate to have Betty Cattich as one of its outstanding employees.
