Recommendation |
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the President of the Board of Supervisors to execute a First Amendment To Lease Agreement with the City of East Palo Alto for the City's use of space at the county-owned Community Services Building at 2415 University Avenue, East Palo Alto. |

Background |
The City of East Palo Alto has been leasing space at 2415 University Avenue in East Palo Alto since 1995.
On July 3, 2001 ownership of the East Palo Alto Waterworks District transferred from the County to the City of East Palo Alto. Along with the transfer of property was the Water District's office that is located at 2415 University Avenue. The First Amendment to Lease presented for your approval increases the rentable area leased by the County to the City to include the Water District Office. |

Discussion |
A proposed First Amendment To Lease Agreement is summarized as follows: 1. The premises will increase by 542 rentable square feet for a total rentable area of 14,453. 2. The expiration date of the lease shall be extended from June 30, 2002 through June 30, 2007. 3. The quarterly rent will increase to $32,248.50 from the previous quarterly amount of |

Vision Alignment |
The First Amendment To Lease keeps the commitment of responsive, effective and collaborative government and goal number 22: County and local governments effectively communicate, collaborate and develop strategic approaches to issues affecting the entire County. The agreement contributes to this commitment and goal since it establishes a working agreement with benefits to both the County of San Mateo and the City of East Palo Alto. |

Fiscal Impact |
The increased revenue will be deposited into the Land and Building Maintenance Fund in the Department of Public Works. |
