RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF PROPOSITION 47 RELATING TO THE KINDERGARTEN-UNIVERSITY PUBLIC EDUCATION FACILITIES BOND ACT OF 2002

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo like many other communities through out California has an ongoing need for new and repaired educational facilities including Community College facilities;

WHEREAS, Proposition 47 would make available over $13 billion in bond funds available for repairing existing and building new educational facilities;

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has focused attention on linking, through education, individuals receiving cash assistance with the employment needs of county businesses;

WHEREAS, the County has a commitment to assist in providing equal access to educational opportunity and to strive toward residents having many educational and training opportunities beyond high school; and

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby supports Proposition 47 and urges its passage by the voters of California.
