RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO PROPOSITION 51 RELATING TO THE CREATION OF THE "TRAFFIC CONGESTION RELIEF AND SAFE SCHOOL BUS TRUST FUND"

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo has existing mechanisms through which transportation projects are evaluated, prioritized and funded;

WHEREAS, Proposition 51 would diminish local flexibility and local/regional control to program transportation funding based on locally determined needs;

WHEREAS, Proposition 51 would fixes the percentage allocation of funding for various project categories without regard for local determination of differing needs;

WHEREAS, passage of Proposition 51 would be contrary to the County's commitment to responsive, effective and collaborative government and contrary to the County's goal to collaborate and develop strategic approaches to issues affecting the entire County; and

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby opposes Proposition 51.
