SUBJECT: |
Equity Adjustment for Coroner's Investigators |
|   |
|   |
Recommendation |
Adopt a resolution approving a 1.8% equity adjustment for the classification of Coroner's Investigator with an effective date of September 29, 2002. |
|   |
Background |
In June 2000, the County negotiated a Memorandum of Understanding covering the non-safety classifications in the Law Enforcement representation unit. That Memorandum of Understanding provides that employees in the classification of Coroner's Investigator shall receive a 2% equity adjustment effective June 25, 2000, another 2% equity adjustment effective June 24, 2001, and also provides that there shall be a reopener on equity adjustment for Coroner's Investigators in June 2002. |

Discussion |
The Employee and Public Services Department conducted a salary survey of the classification of Coroner's Investigator in June 2002. This survey indicated that our salaries were 1.8% lower than the average of our comparator agencies. In July, County representatives met with union representatives and offered a 1.8% equity adjustment. On October 7, union attorney Dave Clisham advised the County that the 1.8% equity adjustment was acceptable. |
