A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE CERTIFICATE OF THE CHIEF ELECTIONS OFFICER AS THE STATEMENT OF THE RESULT OF THE VOTE AS DETERMINED BY THE OFFICIAL CANVASS OF THE NOVEMBER 5, 2002 CONSOLIDATED GUBERNATORIAL GENERAL ELECTION, DECLARING THE PERSONS ELECTED TO CERTAIN OFFICES IN ACCORDANCE WITH ELECTIONS CODE §8203, AND ACCEPTING THE CERTIFICATE DECLARING THE PERSON OR PERSONS WHO HAVE FILED DECLARATIONS OF CANDIDACY BE APPOINTED TO CERTAIN OFFICES IN LIEU OF HOLDING AN ELECTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH ELECTIONS CODE §10515. |

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that |
|
WHEREAS the Chief Elections Officer has completed the official canvass of the complete returns of the votes cast at the Consolidated Gubernatorial General Election held throughout the County of San Mateo on November 5, 2002, and has prepared in accordance with law an abstract or Statement of Votes polled at said election held on said date; and |
|
WHEREAS the Chief Elections Officer will deliver a duplicate of the certified statement to the California Secretary of State and to the county central committee of each political party; and |
|
WHEREAS the Chief Elections Officer will submit to the governing bodies of the cities, school districts, and special districts the certificates of the election so that each shall declare nominated and elected at this election under its jurisdiction the person or persons having the highest number of votes for those offices and declare the results of each measure voted on at this election under its jurisdiction, pursuant to Elections Code §15400; and |

WHEREAS the Chief Elections Officer has also determined that the number of persons who filed declarations of candidacy for certain offices does not exceed the number of positions available; and |
|
WHEREAS the Chief Elections Officer will submit to the governing bodies of the school districts, and special districts the certificates of these facts so that each shall declare nominated and appointed in lieu of election under its jurisdiction the person or persons having filed a declaration of candidacy pursuant to Elections Code §§10511 and 10602; and |
|
WHEREAS this Board is the supervising authority for districts in which is situated all or most of the land of the district in the County of San Mateo; and |
|
WHEREAS the Chief Elections Officer is submitting these facts to the supervising authority, pursuant to Elections Code §10515; and |
|
WHEREAS the Chief Elections Officer will deliver to each person elected a certificate of election, signed and authorized by the Chief Elections Officer. |
|
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND HEREBY ORDERED that the Deputy Clerk of the Board shall enter upon the minutes of this meeting of this Board of Supervisors said abstract or Statement of Votes polled at said election and said certificates of appointment; and |
|
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following named persons, pursuant to Elections Code §8203, are hereby ordered and declared duly elected: |
