Background |
On October 2, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved Resolution No. 64828 awarding a contract to Turner Construction Company in the amount of $1,037,404.00 for construction management of Phase 5C, '54 Building Remodel, of the San Mateo County Health Center Additions and Renovations Project. The County is responsible only for changes initiated by the County or caused by unforeseeable circumstances; the trade contractors or Turner are responsible for other costs. |

Discussion |
The first twelve revision orders amended the original Turner contract to include trade contracts; clock system; removal of x-ray equipment; upgrade of 26 PBX alarms; chilled water system improvements; emergency power design and revisions; relocation of data/power for pleion systems; additional doors and locks; communications rack and cardkey revisions; deletion of a window; window refurbishing; relocation of a corridor wall; Amerinet credit; changes to the layout of the Private Dining Room, Security Locker Room, and Medical Records; remodel of the 3rd Floor Doctor's offices; credit allowance for the painting contract; deletion of a tile wall in surgery; additional cable for the PBX area; additional 30 amp circuits; restroom sound insulation; Cardkey software for a remote station; additional tube steel framing supports per OSHPD requirements at the 3rd Floor link; Code Blue Nursecall upgrade; Computer Training Room telephone; demolition of furred walls in Security; capping a steam leak in Cafeteria; enlarging the Linen Room door; installation of video equipment; Turner fee adjustment reconciliation; adding a 2nd Floor janitor closet; deletion of casework and sink in Room 265; additional electrical/communications for the 3rd Floor temporary move; illuminated sign at west loading dock; cafeteria remodel and fire sprinkling; 3rd Floor link concrete wall; relocating 3rd Floor air plenums above ceiling; replacing light fixtures in TC1; adding a sheet metal parapet cap around the '54 Building; installing a wall to separate conference rooms; deduction for the medical gas panel, VCT and dedicated outlet in Medical Records; HVAC in Room 304 and Administration Wing entrance; demo of walls in Room 268; credit for demo of walls in Room 268, cafeteria fire sprinklers, tackboards, markerboards and tube steel; bumper guards in Linen Room; telecommunications wiring; capping a valve; repairing exterior spawled concrete; rate of rise heat detector; staggering corridor lights; West entrance storefront upgrade; roof maintenance; credit for 3rd Floor fire alarm; preconstruction extension costs; increased general liability insurance; replacing 2nd Floor pan decking; additional field supervision; and contingency savings participation..
Revision Order 13 includes identifying '54 Building fire alarm devices and transferring to as-built fire alarm drawings. |

This revision order to the contract with Turner Construction keeps the commitment of Ensuring Basic Health and Safety for All and goal number 5: Residents have access to healthcare and preventive care. This contract revision order contributes to this commitment and goal by continuing the remodeling and renovation of the San Mateo County Health Center. |

Fiscal Impact |
The project is funded by the sale of Lease Revenue Bonds, 1994 Series A. Funds are available in the project account to pay for this Revision Order.
