RESOLUTION WAIVING THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL PROCESS AND AUTHORIZING THE EPS DIRECTOR TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT WITH SECURE HORIZONS FOR PROVISION OF HEALTH BENEFITS TO ELIGIBLE COUNTY RETIREES AND THEIR DEPENDENTS FOR 2003.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the County accepted the recommendations of a Labor-Management-Retiree Committee and approved a contract with Secure Horizons in a competitive Request for Proposal process in October, 2000 and desires to continue offering managed care benefits to eligible retirees and their dependents; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the County and participants in the plan to retain Secure Horizons coverage because of its low premium and the disruption of physician-patient relations if Secure Horizons in not retained; and

WHEREAS, Secure Horizons has offered to continue coverage for retirees and their dependents and the Board desires to offer this plan;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Request for Proposal process is waived and the Director of Employee and Public Services is hereby authorized and directed to sign an amendment with Secure Horizons for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo upon County Counsel approval.
