SUBJECT:

Amended Professional Services Agreement with the City of Belmont for the proposed Highway 101/Ralston Avenue Improvement Project

Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the President to execute an amendment to April 3, 2001 Professional Services Agreement with the City of Belmont for provision of right-of-way appraisal and acquisition services for the City of Belmont's proposed Highway 101/Ralston Avenue Interchange Improvement Project.

Background
The City of Belmont proposes to construct certain road improvements at the intersection of Highway 101 and Ralston Avenue. The project would require acquisition of portions of an estimated 8 parcels. The original agreement was dated April 3, 2001 and has expired as of December 31, 2002, as the project was delayed over design issues. The City has requested the Real Property Services Division's assistance to acquire the property for the proposed project, which is moving forward now that design changes are complete.

Discussion
The Agreement provides for the County to perform and/or contract for the right-of-way acquisition activities. The services are to be provided in accordance with all applicable State and Federal acquisition laws and procedures.

Vision Alignment
The Amended Agreement keeps the commitment of responsible, effective and collaborative government and goal number 21: County employees understand, support and integrate the County vision and goals into their delivery of service. The Amended Agreement contributes to this commitment and goal through the provision of professional services to the City of Belmont.

Fiscal Impact
There is no County cost as the City will reimburse the County for staff time and contract services.
