TO:

Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:

Paul T. Scannell, Assistant County Manager

SUBJECT:

Fourth Amendment to Lease with Mantoani Properties for the Agricultural/Weights and Measures Division Office in Half Moon Bay (Lease No. 1196)

Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the President of the Board of Supervisors to execute a Fourth Amendment to Lease with Mantoani Properties to extend the term of the agreement.

Background
The Agricultural/Weights and Measures Division's Coastside Field Office has been located at 785 Main Street in Half Moon Bay since 1994. This lease expires on December 31, 2002. The Environmental Services Agency desires to extend the term of the agreement through December 31, 2003.

Discussion
The Fourth Amendment presented for your consideration extends the term of the lease to December 31, 2003 under the same terms and conditions as the original agreement. The rent will continue at the same rate of $1,578.95 per month which is fair market rent.

The Director of the Environmental Services Agency concurs with our recommendation. County Counsel has reviewed and approved the Fourth Amendment to Lease as to form.

Vision Alignment
The Fourth Amendment to Lease Agreement keeps the commitment of responsive, effective and collaborative government and goal number 20: Government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impact, rather than temporary relief or gain. The agreement contributes to this commitment and goal since it establishes a working agreement that benefits both the public as well as the County by providing a field office on the coast.

Fiscal Impact
The Environmental Services Agency has sufficient money budgeted for the current fiscal year. Funding for the proposed amendment has been included in the recommended budget of the Environmental Services Agency for fiscal year 2002/2003.
