BOARD MEETING DATE: |

|
TO: |
Honorable Board of Supervisors |
FROM: |
Chris Flatmoe- Assistant Director of Information Services Department |
SUBJECT: |
Execution of an amendment to an agreement with Avnet Computer |
|
Recommendation |
1) Waive the Equal Benefits requirement; 2) Adopt a resolution executing an amendment that allows the County to utilize the technology enhancement provision as authorized in resolution 60768. |
|
Background |
On December 17, 1996, your Board executed an agreement with Avnet Computer to upgrade Health Services computer environment through leasing new computer equipment. Subsequently, on June 23, 1998, your Board approved an amendment to the original agreement to expand Health Services' data center capacity. This latter agreement included a technology enhancement provision, which allocates a portion of the monthly lease payment for future upgrades. |
|
Discussion |
ISD would like to utilize a portion of the already allocated technology enhancement funds in order to obtain additional desktops and notebooks for the Medical Center. Although Avnet Computer has expressed that they offered equal benefits to domestic partners since 2000, they did not sign the County's Equal Benefits Declaration and ISD would like to request the waiving of the Equal Benefits requirement. |
|
Vision Alignment |
Executing this amendment with Avnet Computer keeps the commitment to responsive, effective, and collaborative government, specifically goal number 22: County and local governments effectively communicate and collaborate in order to develop strategic approaches on issues affecting the entire County. This contract contributes to this goal because Avnet is assisting in the Hospital's ability to facilitate effective communication and collaboration between County departments. |
|
Fiscal Impact |
There are no additional costs associated with the utilization of the technology enhancement provision. The cost of this option has already been calculated into the monthly payments for the duration of the agreement. |
