RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE AREA OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES (OES) COORDINATOR OR HIS DESIGNEES TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE ON SERVICE AND VOLUNTEERISM THROUGH THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY TO PURCHASE AND DISTRIBUTE PREPAREDNESS EQUIPMENT AND TO EXECUTE THE GRANT AGREEMENT AND ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BY AND FOR THE PROGRAM AS DESCRIBED

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that:

 

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Area Office of Emergency Services wishes to apply to the State for Grant Funding to enable Local Agencies to obtain Preparedness Equipment; and

 

WHEREAS, the State of California, Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism requires the Grantee to certify by resolution the approval of the application before submission of said application to the State; and

 

WHEREAS, the State of California, Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism has received funding through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) which will be allocated to the local agencies for the purchase, training and distribution of equipment; and

 

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Area Office of Emergency Services will serve as the administrator for the grant award received by the State of California through FEMA for the purchase, training, and distribution of equipment. This grant shall not exceed fourteen hundred dollars ($14,000); and

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors authorizes the application for a grant to purchase, training, and distribution of equipment in the amount of $14,000; and that the President of the Board shall execute the Certification necessary to complete the application; and

 

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Area OES Coordinator or his designee shall familiarize himself with the assurances and certifications in the application, and assure the County's ability to comply with and conduct all negotiations, and execute and submit all documents including, but not limited to the application, the grant agreement, amendments, payment requests, and other documents that may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned program.
