RESOLUTION APROVING PHASE 1 OF
THE GERIATIC ASSESSMENT CENTER

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance a request to implement Phase 1 of the Geriatric Assessment Center; and

WHEREAS, given the current State and Federal financial turmoil, volume increases - especially increases in insured patient populations - remain the only means for the Hospital to generate additional revenue and cover the high fixed costs associated with operating and inpatient facility; and

WHEREAS, the Geriatric Assessment Program is designed to generate increase inpatient volume for the Medical Center, for a patient population that is by definition insured; and

WHEREAS, the Geriatric Assessment Center will meet a growing community need as well address the Medical Center's financial challenges by offering clinical and supportive services designed to meet the unique requirements of this population; and

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to approve implementation of Phase 1 of the Geriatric Assessment Center for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signatures thereto.
