RESOLUTION ACCEPTING TWO STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF ALCOHOL AND DRUG PROGRAMS (DADP) SAFE AND DRUG FREE SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES (SDFSC) GRANTS AND WAIVING THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL PROCESS FOR CONTRACTED SERVICES DESIGNATED WITHIN THE GRANTS AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF THE HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY TO EXECUTE DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO THE GRANT IMPLEMENTATION

 

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the Human Services Agency, Alcohol and Drug Services, in collaboration with Local Educational Agencies and community-based service providers, identified a need for school and community-based youth development services designed to reduce illegal drug use and violence among high school aged youth in the Daly City and Pacifica areas of North San Mateo County and the Half Moon Bay and Pescadero areas on the Coastside; and

 

WHEREAS, the Human Services Agency, Alcohol and Drug Services, submitted two grant applications to the DADP for the North County Youth Development Partnership and the San Mateo County Coastside Youth Development Partnership for services addressing the identified needs in these two geographical regions; and

 

WHEREAS, the Human Services Agency, Alcohol and Drug Services has now received notice of grant awards for the two three-year projects to fund said services: and

 

WHEREAS, the grant applications and awards, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, have been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant applications specify that Asian American Recovery Services and Youth Leadership Institute will be the service providers for the North County Youth Development Partnership and Cabrillo Unified School District, Coastside Collaborative for Children, Youth and Families, El Centro de Libertad, South Coast Children's Services and Youth Leadership Institute will be the service providers for the San Mateo County Coastside Youth Development Partnership services funded by the grant.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED, that the Board of Supervisors: (1) accepts said grant awards for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, (2) authorizes the Director of the Human Services Agency, or her designee, to execute all necessary documents in connection with the grants and (3) waives the Request for Proposal process for the contracted services funded by the grants and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signature thereto..
