ITS DEDICATION TO THE COMMUNITY-BASED ALCOHOL AND DRUG SERVICE PROVIDERS OF SAN MATEO COUNTY

	WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo recognizes that the CHARLES AND HELEN SCHWAB FOUNDATION has provided invaluable assistance to the community-based alcohol and drug service providers of San Mateo County through their “Building Effective Substance Abuse Treatment” (BEST) initiative; and

	WHEREAS, the CHARLES AND HELEN SCHWAB FOUNDATION has provided these community-based organizations with assessment, planning and consultation to assist them to define and articulate their organizational capacity needs, including clinical care, quality management, governance and leadership, staff development and human resources, business operations, and administration and support; and

	WHEREAS, the CHARLES AND HELEN SCHWAB FOUNDATION has extended their commitment to substance abuse treatment through their support and development of an organizational capacity building project involving the Human Services Agency, Alcohol and Drug Services and a cohort of substance abuse treatment providers in San Mateo County, by providing grants to the individual providers for their own internal capacity building, and by providing a Substance Abuse Program Officer, Ed Carlson, to work directly on this project.

	NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, does hereby take great pride and pleasure in thanking, honoring, and commending the CHARLES AND HELEN SCHWAB FOUNDATION for its vision, foresight and exemplary work on behalf of the people of San Mateo County. We salute you!
