RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE 2003-2004 LEGISLATIVE SESSION PROGRAM TO INCLUDE A LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL TO DEVELOP A HOME CARE ASSESSMENT PILOT PROJECT

______________________________________________________________

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors adopted the County's 2003-2004 Legislative Session Program, which includes descriptions of legislative proposals the County will pursue either through sponsorship or co-sponsorship in the legislative session; and

WHEREAS, the Home Care Assessment Pilot Project would require the County of San Mateo to adopt the Minimum Data Set-Home Care (MDS-HC) assessment instrument for use by the home- and community-based programs and also require the Long-Term Care Council in the California Health and Human Services Agency to coordinate with the County to eliminate or reduce the need for parallel reporting requirements; and

WHEREAS, inclusion of this proposal as part of the County's 2003-2004 Legislative Session Program would further the County's commitment to help the County ensure basic health and safety for all and work toward Goal #5-to ensure residents have access to healthcare and preventative care;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby amends the 2003-2004 Legislative Session Program to include a legislative proposal to develop a home care assessment pilot project.
