COMMENDING AND HONORING

   

DETECTIVE WILLIAM THOMPSON

   

UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM

THE DALY CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that DETECTIVE WILLIAM THOMPSON has retired from the Daly City Police Department following twenty-eight years of exemplary service in law enforcement; and

   
 

WHEREAS, DETECTIVE WILLIAM THOMPSON attended San Francisco State University, Notre Dame de Namur University, and the College of San Mateo before ranking number eight out of forty-three recruits at the police academy in 1974, his promotion to Detective in 1986 and his promotion to Senior Detective in 1991; and

   
 

WHEREAS, DETECTIVE WILLIAM THOMPSON has received numerous Departmental commendations, as well as letters of recognition from San Mateo County and the San Francisco County District Attorney's Office acknowledging his excellent investigations, and a multitude of letters from Daly City residents to whom he has served with compassion and dignity over the years; and

   
 

WHEREAS, DETECTIVE WILLIAM THOMPSON has attained the respect of his fellow officers by leading a distinguished career in law enforcement epitomized by his admirable investigative talents, his professionalism and his loyalty to the citizens of Daly City.

 
 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, does hereby honor DETECTIVE WILLIAM THOMPSON and joins his wife, Leslie and his daughters, Colleen and Ellen in expressing gratitude for his dedication over the years and wishing him the best in his retirement.
